The Refuge Word is an independent Christian publication offering Scripture-based reflection, prayer, video, audio, and practical spiritual guidance.

A company is expected to be incorporated in Singapore before the end of 2026, with an operating office in Thailand. When that company assumes responsibility for the publication, this Privacy Policy will be updated to identify the company and explain the transfer of operational and data-controller responsibilities.

2. Scope

This Privacy Policy applies to personal data collected through therefugeword.com, The Refuge Word email publication, subscription and download forms, surveys and polls, correspondence, digital resources, comments or other interactive features, and related services expressly linked to this policy. Depending on the circumstances and applicable law, processing may be based on consent, performance of a requested service, compliance with a legal obligation, or a legitimate interest in operating and improving the publication responsibly.

5. Email Communications

When you subscribe, you authorize The Refuge Word to send the publication and related editorial communications. Every regular publication email will contain an unsubscribe mechanism.
You may withdraw consent by using the unsubscribe link or contacting [email protected]. Unsubscribing from editorial messages may not prevent strictly necessary administrative communications concerning a transaction, privacy request, security matter, or legal obligation.

The website may use cookies, pixels, local storage, and similar technologies to operate essential functions, remember preferences, prevent fraud or automated abuse, measure visits and interactions, understand traffic sources, and evaluate newsletter performance. Where required, visitors will be offered a cookie banner through which non-essential technologies may be accepted or declined.

7. Service Providers and Disclosure

We may disclose personal data only where reasonably necessary to providers supporting website and newsletter hosting, forms, automations, analytics, business email, cloud storage, digital downloads, payment processing, security, fraud prevention, and professional support.
Current principal providers include Beehiiv, which hosts the website, subscriber database, newsletters, forms, automations, and analytics, and Google Workspace, which supports business email and administrative documents.
We may also disclose information when required by law, to protect rights or safety, or in connection with incorporation, restructuring, or transfer of The Refuge Word, subject to appropriate safeguards and an updated notice.

8. International Data Transfers

The Refuge Word operates from Thailand and uses technology providers that may process or store information in other countries. Personal data may therefore be transferred to or processed outside your country of residence. Where required, we will use appropriate contractual, organizational, and technical safeguards.

9. Data Retention

We retain personal data only for as long as reasonably necessary, including while you remain subscribed, while needed to provide a resource or respond to correspondence, while required for legal or compliance purposes, and while necessary to maintain suppression records so an unsubscribe request is respected.
When information is no longer required, it will be deleted, anonymized, or securely archived as appropriate.

10. Data Security

We use reasonable administrative, organizational, and technical measures intended to protect personal data against unauthorized access, loss, misuse, alteration, or disclosure. No Internet transmission or electronic storage system can be guaranteed to be completely secure. Do not send confidential or highly sensitive information through ordinary newsletter replies or contact forms.

11. Your Rights

Depending on applicable law, you may have rights to request information about processing, access your personal data, request correction, withdraw consent, object to certain processing, request restriction or deletion, request portability where applicable, and complain to an appropriate authority.
To exercise a right, contact [email protected]. We may need to verify your identity. Rights may be subject to legal exceptions, recordkeeping requirements, or technical limitations.
